Ai For Good

We believe AI should serve people before power always.

AI is neither a poison nor a panacea. What it becomes depends on who shapes it.

Without ethical safeguards and public oversight, digital systems can reinforce inequality rather than reduce it. Communities already marginalized are often the first to feel the consequences of poorly governed technology, and the last to benefit from its potential.

In Nigeria, we work at the intersection of technology, justice, and accountability, building practical applications of ethical AI and data that strengthen civic accountability, expand access to information, and support justice-oriented decision-making for the people who need it most.
In Nigeria, we are working to ensure the answer
includes the people too often left out.

What ethical AI looks like in practice.

Across Nigeria, communities, journalists, educators, and civic actors are using AI to solve real problems, strengthen accountability, and expand opportunity.

What We Focus On

Our Five Focus Areas

AI for Public Accountability

We build AI systems that make government transparent and citizens powerful. From tracking public spending to surfacing climate data, our tools help communities see what was hidden, ask what was unanswered, and demand what was denied.

AI Literacy & Workforce

We equip young Nigerians with the AI skills to earn, lead, and shape the future. From classroom programs to professional fellowships, we work to ensure that the AI economy includes the people most often left outside it.

AI, Power & Justice

We examine how AI reshapes power and inequality, and work to ensure it does not deepen injustice. Through research, policy engagement, and people-centered interventions, we keep the conversation honest about what AI does, who it serves, and who it leaves behind.

AI Safeguarding & Data Rights

We protect communities from AI harms. From data dignity to algorithmic accountability, we work to ensure that the people whose data trains these systems are not the ones who pay the highest price for its misuse.

AI Leadership & Ethics

We develop the next generation of African AI leaders. NextGen technologists, policy thinkers, and community advocates who can design, govern, and challenge AI systems responsibly, ensuring ethical and inclusive innovation grounded in local realities.

The Work In Motion

AI literacy, public accountability, ethical innovation, data rights, and community leadership, built every day with the people AI is meant to serve.

Expert & Fellows

Meet the community leaders, climate advocates, and practitioners advancing climate justice through our programs and fellowship network.

Clim8Guard

An early-warning climate intelligence tool that helps Nigerian communities anticipate and respond to climate risks. Clim8Guard turns environmental data into clear, local guidance, helping people, schools, and local governments stay safer, sooner.

SentinelAI

SentinelAI is a civic intelligence platform that monitors gender-based violence, climate harm, and accountability signals across Nigerian communities. It surfaces what is hidden, helping civil society, policymakers, and frontline responders act with better information

EcoSpendTraka

EcoSpendTraka is a public-spending accountability tool that tracks how environmental and climate funds move through Nigerian institutions. It helps citizens, journalists, and civil society follow the money from federal allocation to local outcome.

VANDI

VANDI is a community engagement platform that brings citizens and public officials into structured digital dialogue. VANDI is the digital backbone of The People’s Townhall, extending civic participation beyond physical convenings.

IEPForge

IEPForge is an inclusive education planning tool that helps teachers and schools design Individual Education Plans for children with learning differences and disabilities. It gives every child a learning roadmap built around how they actually learn.

Champ AI

CHAMP AI is a WhatsApp-based AI mental health companion for boys and men in Nigeria. In a country with fewer than 250 practicing psychiatrists for 200 million people, CHAMP AI meets boys and men where they already are, with no app to download, no clinic to visit, no insurance required.

Communities are not downstream consumers of AI. They are co-creators of it.

Across all of our AI work, we prioritize ethical design, community ownership, and accountability. The people closest to the problem must be at the center of the solution. Technology built without communities is technology built against them. We build with.

What this looks like in practice

In Their Own Words

Students, fellows, policymakers, community leaders, and technologists on what it means to build AI that serves people, not power.

The race to build AI has just a few participants. The race to ensure AI serves humanity will require all of us

Stand with us in building public-purpose AI in Nigeria.
